Butterworth (Year 3 & Year 4)
Welcome to Butterworth Class!
Teacher: Miss Ralf
Teaching Assistants: Miss Turner, Mrs Hornsey & Mrs Rogers
Butterworth is a mixed class with Year 3 and Year 4 children.
We start the day with either a writing or maths activity. Once the children have put their bags and coats away, they independently get on with this task.
This term we are writing a traditional tale with a twist based on the book ‘The true story of the 3 little pigs’ by Jon Scieszka. Later this term we will then be looking at a non-ficton book.
We follow Jane Considine’s spelling scheme. These lessons consist of various spelling investigations and great activities to help the children with their spellings.
In Butterworth class we follow the letter join handwriting scheme. Every day we have a session building towards joined up handwriting.
This term both Year 3 and Year 4 will be learning about place value. Year 3 children will be look at numbers to 1000 and Year 4 up to 10,000.
In guided reading we will be looking at a range of different texts that will support our comprehension. We will start by exploring the book Voices in the Park by Anthony Browne.
During the afternoons the children will have sessions covering PE, Geography, History, Science, Art, Music, French, DT or Computing.
