Welcome Back Butterworth!

Happy New Year! We hope you have all had a wonderful and restful Christmas break. We're excited to have everyone back in class for 2022! We hope you all have an amazing first day back!

Just a reminder that Butterworth's PE lessons will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays w/c 10.01.22

Homework will be sent out on FRIDAY and needs to be returned the following Wednesday.

It is also essential that all children read every day. This can be a mixture of you reading to them and them reading to you.

Our School Day...

Morning Task

We start the day with either a writing or maths activity. Once the children have put their bags and coats away, they independently get on with this task.

English

This term we are writing a narrative based on Theseus and the Minotaur. Later this term we will then be looking at script writing.

Spelling

We follow Jane Considine’s spelling scheme. These lessons consist of various spelling investigations and great activities to help the children with their spellings.

Handwriting

In Butterworth class we follow the letter join handwriting scheme. Every day we have a session building towards joined up handwriting.

Maths

This term both Year 3 and Year 4 will continue learning about multiplication and division and then move onto measurement and fractions later in the term.

Guided Reading

In guided reading we use Bug Club and we will be looking at a range of different texts that will support our comprehension.

Religious Education

This term in R.E Butterworth will be explore the question "How important is it for Jewish people to do what God asks them to do?"

Afternoons

During the afternoons the children will have sessions covering PE, History, Science, PSHE, Music, French, DT or Computing.
